Update: I’ve increased the transparency quality settings for this file as well as made specific versions for Adobe Illustrator C3, CS2, and CS.
First, let me make something clear. I don’t design in Microsoft Word nor Adobe PDF (and I’m sure I’m not alone), so how come I can only find templates for business cards in these formats? Unable to find a “good” quality template for the 8871TM Matte White Ink Jet Clean Edge 2″ x 3 1/2″ Business Cards I have made the basic template available here. I hope you find it useful.

any chance of getting a version of this that would work in illustrator CS? when i import this CS2 file, all of the data is lost
February 14th, 2008 at 10:14 am
yea! thanks! damn the man! I can’t understand at all why Avery’s templates aren’t available in PSD or AI formats since most Graphic designers use Photoshop and Illustrator (at least I do.) I have found this website for some of their templates if this helps you too. (PDFs for Illustrator and Photoshop) btw… I notice you say you dont “design” in Adobe PDF… PDFs are just viewer files. You can import them or even open them raw in Illustrator AND photoshop.. just an FYI

thank you!!!!!
May 15th, 2008 at 9:12 am
THANK YOU!!! I’ve been despairing, thinking I would have to work it out myself. I completely agree, too – if they want graphic designers to be able to use their products easily, they should have them available in at least one graphic format. You’re honestly a timeline-saver here.

Hey,
I am trying to make vertical biz cards so I am just rotating everything 90degress and i line em up with the template… for some reason, its perfectly lined up in the template but when printed its off… every time.. I don’t know what to do.. I have tried about 20 different templates that are supposedly good.
Still nothing ever lines up.

Seems okay to me. Make sure to do a right click on it and select “Save File As”.
September 30th, 2008 at 3:09 pm
i guess this is not for mac … right?
September 30th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
@mike r -
It should work just fine with Mac OSX. Safari saves it as an avery-8871.ai.ps file for some reason. If you just rename it back to avery-8871.ai it works fine. Or you can use FireFox.

Same problem as Mike R…I can’t download the bloody template from avery or the link on this page( working with Mac OSX). Correction…I can download it but it doesn’t open properly. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

spinning wheel of death = every avery template
December 2nd, 2008 at 6:33 am
Thank you so much. Avery doesn’t even provide the correct template for the cards I have. Avery sucks, you rule.
Also, what’s the best way to populate the 10-up when you have 1 created exactly how you like? My solution is copy/paste and realign by eye. I know that can’t be the best way. =D
December 27th, 2008 at 5:41 pm
Thank you Ryan, I spent about 4 hours trying to export into word,as a jpg, pdf, you name it. Then I downloaded avery’s design pro which wants you to design a card in there program. Everything failing until i found you. Thanks.
January 15th, 2009 at 1:29 pm
OK… Guess I’m just clueless. I downloaded it but where do I save it or how do I use it?
Using XP Pro and Word.
January 15th, 2009 at 7:02 pm
Hey I really want to thank you for this template…It took me so looong to find one…thanx
January 23rd, 2009 at 3:00 pm
Thank you! I was about to download the word doc from Avery and thought…screw this…there has to be some designer out there who’s made an illustrator template…and I was right! Thanks so much!!
January 26th, 2009 at 4:01 pm
Do you have a template for name badges and tent cards too? So far the processes is beyond painful and it sounds like you may have a solution.
Thanks.

February 19th, 2009 at 8:33 pm

Thanks for sharing this!! It saved me a lot of time and made the designing so much easier!
March 15th, 2009 at 10:53 am
Thanks for making this. I’ve been searching all around and Avery supports only Word (an older site suggests they support Adobe software but the server does not serve!) and on the Adobe site I am finding only templates for PCs. This is great. I believe it also works for Avery template 5877, which isn’t on your list.
April 16th, 2009 at 11:14 pm
Thank you for making these templates available; the Avery web site claims to offer downloadable templates in .ai format now, but when I tried to access one it asked me for my name and email address. Then the download link was broken to boot. (Good thing I gave them a fake name and email address, huh?)
Shame on you, Avery…
April 19th, 2009 at 2:01 am
Good God, Man!
If all the talent in the Avery labs couldn’t compare to one man’s work… This saved me more time than could be compared. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You.
April 19th, 2009 at 7:48 am
Glad to hear that everyone is find such a great use out of the template! Hard to believe that I posted these templates almost 2 years ago and Avery still hasn’t posted any on there site.

July 25th, 2010 at 12:34 pm
Hey Man
Great templates but I have the same problem as Gerry. The cards line up perfectly on screen but when I print them they are shifted and don’t line up with the perforations. Any ideas on what’s causing this and how to correct it? I’ve tried 3 different templates and still experience the same problem.
August 2nd, 2010 at 10:52 am
Great post! Seeing as a lot of people are finding this useful I’ll check it out and give the templates a try.
